To everyone’s surprise, John Kasich dominated some of the questions during last Thursday’s GOP debate. Take a look at where he stands on the Medicaid expansion, a rarely popular program for current republican governors. Not only can Medicaid help provide better health care for the poor, but it helps states save more too. The program has been around for half a century and has proven to be effective at reducing poverty.
Kasich says:
“I respect the fact that you believe in small government – I do too. I also have to know you’re a person of faith. When you die and get to the meeting with St. Peter, he’s probably not going to ask you about what you did about keeping government small, he’s probably going to ask you what you did for the poor – you better have a good answer”
Kasich ends up trolling the GOP with a faith-based argument… double whammy!
