We’ve seen polls in the past few weeks about Donald Trump topping the charts for the Republican primaries and Bernie Sanders seems to have a winning shot recent CNN polls. What gives? Why are these two jumping to the top so early and how did they somehow get successful over night, regardless of which side of the aisle they are on (and they are undoubtedly on two very opposite sides).

They are angry, loud, and honest
Donald Trump is nearly a household name at this point. How did he jump to one of the most covered and talked about person in the summer of 2015 political discussion? He’s loud. He makes the most noise. He makes a ruckus. He creates Twitter wars with people and gives no one any respect. Then he mockingly apologizes and says he’s going to ‘play nice’ (lucky for us):
Trump can also catapult off the fact that average Americans likely know his name through The Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice. Any family in Anywhere, USA would know that Trump has stern and austere management style and a ‘get things done’ attitude. Make it, or break it. And let’s be real, who doesn’t love a good juicy reality TV show with lots of screaming.
Sanders on the other hand is completely removed from reality TV, fame, and billions of dollars. If anything, Trump’s “10 BILLION DOLLARS” is exactly what Sanders is fighting against. But he does have one thing in common with Trump. He’s loud, abrasive, and speaks his mind. He’s honest and pragmatic. He’s a stick-it-to-the-man practice-what-you-preach kind of guy. And people love it. From what I can tell, even some conservatives are starting to get swayed by Sanders. They are both loud, honest, and making some noise.
Ultimately, the primaries require some partisan sliding. The candidates that speak the loudest, make the most boom, and appeal to the base – they get the nomination. It’s something Trump and Sanders both are doing quite well right now. The real question is whether either of these candidates can hold on to that angry energy and capitalize on it. We’ll see.
